Biblical Calendar

Posted in Calendar, TYoAZ by johnmarsing on January 3, 2010

This blog entry  is an attempt to summarize what we at TYoAZ et. al. have in common and what are differences are regarding how to keep the biblical calendar so as to bring clarity to the issue (there is no reason spending time discussing subjects that we all agree on). As you all know this is not a trivial subject matter because we want to try to do what’s right in the eyes of the Father and because this issue is going to greatly affect how we make plans for next year’s (2010) Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot).

I’m hoping this blog might be a centralized place where this issue can be ferreted out. Please note these are my initial notes about what the differences are and what the commonalities are therefore I may be writing things presumptuously so I would encourage people to leave there comments or point out mistakes that I have made. The end game here for TYoAZ is to try to figure out what we need to do to plan for next year’s Feast.

What’s in Common

C1: The Rabbinic Judaism calendar is flawed and we do not accept that they have exclusive authority over determining the calendar dates.

C2: It’s been my observation that the group has, for the most part, abandoned the idea of whether the thirteenth is determined by the ripening of the Aviv barley. What I had found appealing about this was that it was Elohim who determined what the calendar is going to be and that man couldn’t plan years in advance therefore making us dependent on Him to a degree.

C3: The vernal equinox is determined when the day is exactly half way between the beginning of Winter and the beginning of Summer not when the length in time when the night equals the day. (I think Yoseph was the only one who was trying to question this and figure this out).

What are the differences

D1: When is the new moon, is it determined by sighting it in the morning or the evening.

D2: ?
