The American Seder Update

Posted in Event, Religion, Torah Lawform by johnmarsing on July 5, 2011

This is an update on the “American Seder” for the Fourth of July 2011.

Overall the event went very well specially considering this was our first attempt.  I counted that we had 35+ people.

Special thanks to Uri Harel, Jackie Shephard, Steve Grosvenor, Kiki Sabanis and all the others who showed up and helped out.

I created a public folder for people to view which can be found here.

It contains photos (here and here)  audios (Part1 and Part2) and other stuff

Suggestions

  1. read the 10 commandments in Hebrew
  2. clean up the Haggadah…e.g. compact the songs into multi-columns
  3. better marketing…press conference?
  4. ???.

Hanging out with Robert Fox and the on going saga of Gale Webb’s trial

Posted in Religion, Torah Lawform by johnmarsing on April 11, 2007

This are my thoughts on my meeting with Robert Fox and the Monday April 9th court appearance of Gale Webb.

The bad news first

Our goal of getting Gale released from prison was unsuccessful.

Gale did not get the 10 to 15 minute recess that he wanted to review the “offer of proof” document written up by Mr. Fox.

The good news

Notes on the trial

1) Testimony: Gale said he did swore himself in, but in my opinion it wasn’t as thorough as it should have been.  Other witnesses said he did mention Mat 5:37

“But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil”

Personally I disagree with this concept after studying the work done by Nehemia Gordon.  Below is verbiage from Mr. Fox that is worth of committing to memory, and avoids the “swearing” issue all together.

“I understand that I am to accurately state the facts and that if I knowingly inaccurately state the facts that I may subject myself to penalties of perjury under the laws of the Unites states of America.  Having qualified my testimony here today I hereby state for the record…”

The important point is that when your speaking before the judge, you always first and foremost need to make it testimony.  Testimony moves the court, the rest is just noise.

2) Assistance of Counsel: The court did allow Mr. Fox to be an Assistance of Counsel.  Some who are much more experienced than I where surprised.  Judge Niel Wake asked Mr. Fox if he was a licensed bar attorney and He responded by saying no, and neither are you.  Judge Wake capitulated under the proviso that Mr. Fox did not speak for Gale.

Sidebar: Shawn Rice made had an excellent Torah insight on the discussion of the Assistance of Counsel.  If you are being denied Assistance of Counsel you can respond with “give me a break judge, even Moshe the one who got the 10 commandments, who was the scribe for YHVH and got the very words from the mouth of YHVH and gave us the Torah, had ’Assistance of Counsel’ from his brother Aharon”.  Of course to use this argument, you must be operating under the Torah law form.

Exodus 4:10-16 And Moses said unto YHVH, O Adoni, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. (11) And YHVH; said unto him, Who hath made mans mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I YHVH? (12) Now therefore go, and Eh-heh-yeh (I will be) with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say. (13) And he said, O Adoni, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send. (14) And the anger of YHVH was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart. (15) And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and Eh-heh-yeh (I will be) with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do. (16) And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of Elohim.

Exo 7:2 Thou shalt speak all that I command thee: and Aharon thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the Bnei Yisroel out of his land.

 Observations

YHVH spoke to Moshe, Moshe spoke to Aharon, Aharon spoke to the people.  It’s interesting that the Pharaoh allowed Aharon to be the spokesman for Moshe, but Judge Wake did not allow Mr. Fox to speak for Gale.  I don’t disagree with Judge Wake, but it’s an interesting comparison.  The bottom line is to pull this off, you need to be competent in Torah law.

Eh-heh-yeh Word Study

Note that, Eh-heh-yeh (Strong’s 1961) which is translated “I will be” is made up of the letters Alef Hey Yood Hey.  The last two letters of the word are made up of the first two letters of YHVH .  See also Exo 3:14 (OJB) “And Elohim said unto Moshe, Eh-heh-yeh ashair Ehheh- yeh (I AM WHO I AM); and He said, Thus shalt thou say unto the Bnei Yisroel, EHHEH-YEH (I AM) hath sent me unto you.”  To we have faith that YHVH (through the ruach hakodesh) will be with our mouth (Eh-heh-yeh) when we speak?  Does Gale fully believe this?

Article 6: In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence

License: contracts. A right given by some competent authority to do an act, which without such authority would be illegal. (Bouv. 1856)

In short, a license is to do that which is illegal.  I would argue that Robert Fox had a license from Gale Webb, because (in this case) Gale gave him a limited power of attorney which is a contract.  If the parties are competent in law and have a right to contract then the judge can’t impair the Obligation of Contracts (See US Const. Article 1 Sec 10).  I.e. it would have been illegal for Robert Fox to act as Assistance of Counsel if this contract didn’t exist, therefore Mr. Fox was ‘licensed’.

3) Gale got to make the point that Judge Wake as federal judges has a conflict of interest because they get paid by federal revenues.  Judge Wake responded by saying that all judges get paid by the Federal treasury and called it a frivolous argument.  My response is so what, that ain’t my problem.  If you (and every other federal judge has conflict of interest, then they have a conflict of interest and you can’t precede).  Seems to me Judge Wake, you need to go shopping around for people who don’t have a conflict like members of JSoTA.

4) All members of JSoTA showed up and even some from TYoAZ.

5) Gale, per the advise of Mr. Fox’s, referenced GIDEON v. WAINWRIGHT 372 U.S. 335 (1963).

The right of an indigent defendant in a criminal trial to have the assistance of counsel is a fundamental right essential to a fair trial, and petitioner’s trial and conviction without the assistance of counsel violated the Fourteenth Amendment. Betts v. Brady, 316 U.S. 455 , overruled. Pp. 336-345.

Having not read this case, this is suppose to show that the defendant is suppose to have a fair opportunity to make his defense.  For example his constantly appearing in chains while in court and being deprived of sleep before his court appearance is obviously un-fair.  Gale and JSoTA should have made a point about this on the first occurance of this.  During the last appearance, Gale did request that he could have one of his hands free and this was allowed.  Judge Wake had delegated this question to the Marshall’s so, in my opinion, he was also delegating his responsibilities for him having been put in this demeaning state do begin with.  Well that’s crap.  There is no reason that Gale is a threat to anyone.  He voluntarily showed up to the court when he was first incarcerated and since then has threatened no one and has shown not acts of violence.

In my opinion this is unacceptable.  I would demand that the chains be removed every time I appear or I’m not going to talk to the judge while in his court.  Either you will respect me and my status or I have nothing to say to you.

Future Strategies

Personally I think the “Offer of Proof” document had a lot of patriot rants with conspiratorial overtones and unsubstantiated points.  I also don’t believe that it gets directly to the matter at hand and that Mr. Fox doesn’t fully understood the nature of the problem as it relates specifically with Gale, namely that Gale has collapsed his Cestui que Trust and that he was being held in contempt of court by the judge and the judge alone for not producing books and records.    I also don’t believe Gale fully understands the problem because he doesn’t fully own the issue at hand which I call “Strongly Held Religious Beliefs”.  Maybe its more accurate to say that Gale doesn’t know how to get out of the situation he is currently in.

I have not walked in the man’s shoes so I can only respond to the details of the case and speculate how I think I would react if I find myself in a similar situation.  In the future, I may be eating my own words but to me this is all about ones religion and it’s about a spiritual struggle/test/conflict.  I would like to believe that I would…

First and foremost in propia persona, state for the record via testimony (see above point 1 Testimony) that I am of Yisrael and a party to the Mt. Sinai covenant and that I have this access to this covenant as I am the posterity of Israel and because of the “Good News” work of Y’shua HaMashiach.  That my status is of one who is a zealot for his Israel birthright whom YHVH loved (see Mal 1:2) and definitely not like Esau (see Mal 1:3) whom YHVH hated.  Rights implies duties and responsibilities on both parties.  The birthright of Israel is that YHVH as office holder of “the Elohim of Avraham, Issach and Jacob” has duties and responsibilities to protect me and bless me and my duties and responsibilities to perform are found in the Torah.  My Israel birthright is a natural conclusion of my American birthright which is articulated as Creator Given Inalienable Rights found in the Declaration of Independence.  This is my status and this is Who I Am.

The agreement I am operating under is the covenant in Torah, which is a type of contract and which in the secular world is called an agreement.  The terms and conditions of this covenant/contract are articulated as in the Torah as commandments, statues and ordinances or what I call the law form of Torah.  Does this mean that I can’t contract with anyone else?  No, if my “higher and prior” covenant/contract with YHVH is not violated.  With regard to the matters of protection and blessings, I have a mutually exclusive contract/covenant with YHVH because He is a Jealous Elohim.  (for me husband swapping is not an option).  Therefore the question “Where in the hierarchy of agreements do I attach?” has to be put in context (hierarchally speaking) to Torah.  If it can be reasonably shown that I am operating outside Torah and there is a reasonable remedy for me to be put back in alignment with Torah, then you have my permission to smack me one cheek, and my response will be to give you my other cheek. (hey! that emoticon has two rose red cheeks)

Social Security/IRS (represented by the US Prosecuting attorney) have authority over those who for example participate in Social Security and receive or avail themselves to the benefits which come from their voluntary agreeing to the terms and conditions found on the SS 5 Form.  So if I have explicitly said I do not and will not participate in this agreement and can demonstrate this, then the question is where is the alleged contract that I am allegedly in breach of?  If there is no contract there is not dispute and there is no way for a court to even determine if it has subject matter jurisdiction.  So the question is “What is the nature of the agreement upon which you believe I am operation under”.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THIS CLEARLY ESTABLISHED UP FRONT WITH YOUR ACCUSER AND/OR JUDGE, AND YOUR TALKING ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE, YOU HAVE DONE SOMETHING WRONG.  GO BACK TO STEP ONE.

IF YOUR ACCUSER AND/OR JUDGE REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND TRIES TO COERCE YOU TO BREACH YOUR COVENANT/CONTRACT WITH YHVH, RESPECTFULLY PUT THEM ON NOTICE (IN THE NATURE OF ANSWERING AFFIRMATIVELY TO THE QUESTION “AM I MY BROTHERS KEEPER” I.E. FULL DISCLOSURE) THEY ARE ATTEMPTING TO CAUSE YHVH, WHO HAS A COVENANT/CONTRACT WITH ME, TO BE IN BREACH.  AND THAT I WILL BE FORCED TO APPEAL THIS MATTER TO THE HIGHEST COURT IN THE UNIVERSE.  AND FURTHER THAT THEY SHOULD SERIOUSLY RE-CONSIDER THE ETERNAL CONSEQUENCES OF THEIR ACTION.

After the trial, Shawn Rice, Ken Newman, Mr. Fox and myself got together to discuss strategy in the form of a Amicus curiae and/or a motion.  Shawn feel (and I would agree), that we need to communicate to the judge identify exactly what is the nature of the problem.  Specifically we need to ask the following questions.  Ken and myself have bounced this idea around before as an official action of JSoTA.

1) NEED TO TALK TO SHAWN AND JSOTA

2) We need to demand to see the original summons.

Hanging out with Monte Judah

Posted in Religion, Torah Lawform, TYoAZ by johnmarsing on March 26, 2007

These are my notes on Monte Judah’s (see www.lionlamb.net) talk that was hosted by Berean Mishpochah on March 14th and 15th.  I obviously thought it was excellent or I wouldn’t have spent the time to write this blog (writing is a cool thing, but for me always takes a long time).   If you know me my passion is ‘Torah as a law form’ (see my new web site www.torahlawform.com, and JSoTA and Gershom), so I wasn’t expecting much on this subject given the topics.  Well I was wrong because when you get serious about Torah, you just can’t avoid this subject.

The two topic on the agenda were 1) “The Messianic Movement and its role in the Second Coming” and 2) “Jots and Titles”.  For my thoughts on the first topic see below “Other Noteworthy Thoughts”.  For the second topic see below “Jots and Titles”.  Since I am all about “Torah as a law form”, I wanted to blog about that first.

Torah as a law form and the Sermon on the Mount

I was struck by Monte saying that Y’shua was teaching Torah in Mat 5–7 the “Sermon on the Mount”.  I never thought about it this way because my question would be when isn’t he teaching about the Torah, I mean he walks and breathes Torah because he is Torah in carne (Joh 1:1–14).  I surmised though that this more formal teaching, akin to a lecture, is important because it is what the people needed to know.  They needed to know this because they were not getting this from the Scribes, Pharisees and Sadducees who were responsible for teaching the Torah and adjudicating from the Torah.

Torah application depends on contracts, status and law form

Monte Judah talked about two sets of laws in the Torah, one for the slave (more accurately bond servant) and the one for the free man.  I distinguish between slave and bond servant because a slave acquires this status involuntary, where as bond servant acquires his status by contract.  This is a topic that I could greatly expand on but is outside the scope of this blog. Monte said (I think) that Moshe taught both, while Y’shua only talked about and further explained the laws that applied to the bond servant Mat 5–7 i.e. The Sermon on the Mount.

Eye for an eye

Mat 5:39–38 OJB You have heard that it was said, AYIN TACHAT AYIN, SHEN TACHAT SHEN (An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth).  39  But I say to you, Do not set yourself against the rasha (evil person), but whoever hits you on your right cheek, turn to him also the other cheek. {OJB is an e-sword bible and it stands for Orthodox Jewish Bible}

Exo 21:24 OJB Ayin for ayin, shen for shen, yad for yad, regel for regel,

Deu 19:21 KJV And thine eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

My understanding of ‘eye for an eye’ (listening to Dennis Prager) is that this is about justice. A poor man who looses and eye equals the eye of a rich man. He further argues that revenge is ok, but it must be just (i.e. 1 eye does not equal 2 eyes). therefore the law is no respector of persons (see e.g. the Declaration of Independence “all men are created equal” under the law).  I think what Monte Judah is saying is that Moshe, in Exo 21:24 and Deu 19:21, refers to the law of the freeman and Y’shua is talking about the laws for the bond servant (Deu 15:16–18).

Sidebar: It is interesting in Mat 5:38 which starts off with Y’shua saying “You have heard that it was said..”, Nehemia Gordon (a Karaite who wrote the book “The Hebrew Yeshua vs. the Greek Jesus”) points out here and other places (as I recall), that Y’shua is not changing the Torah (Torah forbids that) but that he is refuting what the Pharisees et. al. where saying, and that they were changing the Torah.

 The Amalekites

Monte got very serious about this subject for those who say they follow the Torah.  Guess what the last three of the 613 commandments (as compiled by Rambam) are?

Deu 25:17-19 Remember what Amalek did (611) unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth out of Egypt; (18) How he met thee by the way, and smote the hindmost of thee, even all that were feeble behind thee, when thou wast faint and weary; and he feared not Elohim. (19) Therefore it shall be, when YHVH thy Elohim hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which YHVH thy Elohim giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven (613); thou shalt not forget it. (612)

My thoughts on the Sermon on the Mount

Mat 4:23 And Y’shua went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

And the first thing Y’shua says on the Mount is  Mat 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Is it fair to put into context that the Sermon on the Mount applies to the Kingdom and by implication those in the Kingdom who are brethren?  Therefore if this is true, then the set of law (Torah) that is being talked about is not just the laws for the bond servant, but about how the bond servants are to relate to each other.  I would argue that if you are dealing with someone who is not a brethren then Matthew 5–7 doesn’t apply.  Think about it, how do you combine Mat 5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. with blotting out the seed of Amalek?  If Yasser Arafat smacked me on one side of the face, am I supposed to say “thank you sir may I have another”? So how do us Torah compliant Messianics deal with this?

The thing you need to figure out is who is your friend (brethren) and who is your enemy.  Or to put it another way, before we can answer affirmatively to the question “..Am I my brothers keeper?” (Gen 4:9), I need to know who my brother is.  As a Messianic, I define a brethren as someone who has bond himself to Torah and Y’shua.  Of course we know that Y’shua is Torah incarnate but generally speaking The House of Yahuda and the House of Ephraim each only sees half the truth and are blinded by the other.  Therefore it is our job to show both houses the others witness of the truth.

Another way for brethren of the faith do deal with this is to not contract with the enemy and to not contract with their gods.  Well that subject is a can of worms and is a blog for another day.

Monte also said something in the nature of “vengeance is mine saith the Lord” see Deu 32:35, 43; Rom 12:18–19.

Matthew 5:17-18

KJV (17) Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. (18) For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Messianics are famous for quoting this verse because non Messianics don’t get this clear message that Y’shua is making.  The message is clearly talking about the Torah (law) and it’s relevance even to this today.  I also put this here, because it’s a great segway into the topic of “Jots and Tittles”.  I find it interesting that these two subjects are found in one verse.

Jots and Tittles

FYI, I all ready had Monte’s CD on the subject (His CD can be bought here see, also see the July 2004 issue of Yavoh) and I have done a fair amount of study (see this pdf) so I was familiar with this topic.  What follows are more notes, but for sure not all that he talked about.

The Jewish scribes never called it Jots and Tittles, they were called dots, Enlarged Letter, Shrunken Letters, Stigmatized.  Christian Theologians called this for example the “Keren”, which means horn, and distinguishes the dalet from the resh

Ezra canonized the Tanach and gave us block script.  He accompanied the House of Yahuda from Babylon.

Detail description of BerahSheet and the Enlarged Bet of Gen 1:1.  God takes a bride and builds a house.  Actually the son builds the house because the Yood = hand = Y’shua is to the left (our left, God’s right) of the Sheen which represents God.

Gen_1_1_Interlinear

The letters of the first word of the bible (Strong’s 7225) are Bet Resh Aleph Sheen Yood and Tav.  Monte had a lot more to say about this, but I didn’t have a chance to write it all down.

Aleph-Tav

I don’t know if technically this is a “Jot or Tittle”, but is a very powerful teaching about the Messiah.  I asked Monte where the scribes believe the Alef-Tav is referring to the Messiah and which are just grammatical pointers.  He said that there are approximately 14 and gave me a partial list.  I would definitely love to know the rest of this, if anyone has them, please leave a comment on this blog.

  • Gen 1:1.  The Aleph-Tav AlephTav (Strong’s 853), is to the left (our left, God’s right) of Elohim.
  • Monte said to look in Isaiah 11 where the seven spirits of God are mentioned.  I all of chapter eleven, I found six occurrences.  I’m guessing it’s verse 11.  This verse seems very compelling for two house, second coming and the greater exodus.  Verse 15 is similar to Gen 1:1 which has the AlephTav to our left (God’s right) of YHVH not Elohim which is what it is in Genesis
    • Isa 11:9-15 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of YHVH AlephTav, as the waters cover the sea. (10) And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. (11) And it shall come to pass in that day, that Adonai_136 shall set his hand again the second time to recover AlephTav the remnant  of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. (12) And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth. (13) The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy AlephTav Judah, and Judah shall not vex AlephTav Ephraim. (14) But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil AlephTav them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them. (15) And YHVH  AlephTav shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod.

  • Monte said to look for the middle branch of the Menorah where it describes the construction of the Menorah.
    • Exo 25:37 OJB And thou shalt make the nerot (lamp) shivah (seven) thereof; and they shall kindle the nerot thereof, that they may give light toward its face.

    • Exo_25_37_Small

  • Monte said to look where Jacob tells Joseph to tend after the AlephTavGen37_12_Small flock, which is the flock of the fathers not specifically Jacobs flock.  Monte further says that this is the beginning of the redemption story found in the telling of the Passover.  Joseph is definitely a prototype of the messiah e.g. you have the symbolism of the shepherd who takes care of and feeds the flock.  Spiritually speaking we are to be fed the word of YHVH.  Verse thirteen note, Keeping in mind the Alef Tav teaching of verse 12, the last four Hebrew words are almost saying “Elohim said here I am!” Except that the spelling of Strong’s 413 has the yood and the hey swapped and should be pronounced Aleeyihem which is translated ‘to them’.
    • Gen 37:11-17 OJB  And his achim (brother) had kina (jealousy, envy) toward him; but Aviv (father) was shomer (beware, guard) AlephTav over the saying (the word). (12) And his achim (brother) went for the purpose to be ro’eh (shepherd) AlephTavGen37_12_Small tzon (flock) Avihem (their father) in the vicinity of Shechem. (13) And Yisrael said unto Yosef, Do not thy achim (brethren) ro’im (feed) in Shechem? Come and I will send thee unto them. And he said to him, Hineni(here I am). (14) And he said to him, Go, now, see AlephTav about the shalom (welfare) achecha (your brethren), AlephTav and the (welfare) shalom hatzon (sheep fold); and bring me devar (word). So he sent him out of the Emek (valley) Chevron (Hebron), and he went to Shechem. (15) And a certain ish (man) found him, and, hinei (behold), he was wandering in the sadeh (area, country, field); and the ish (man) asked him, saying, What seekest thou? (16) And he said, AlephTav I seek  my achim (brethren) ; tell me, now, where they ro’im (feed their flocks). (17) And the ish (man) said, They are departed from here; for I heard them say, Let us go to Dotan. And Yosef went after his achim (brethren), and found them in Dotan.

The Inverted Nun and the SEVEN books of Moshe

I am calling it “the inverted nun” but there was a bunch of stuff Monte tied together on this.

 InvertedNun

  1. The Nun means a quickening of life and is symbolized by a fish that darts away.
  2. The inverted nun surrounds Num 10:35-36 and act as brackets that make it stand out.  These verses are so powerful that they are considered separate books leaving a total of seven books of the Torah Gen, Exo, Lev, Num 1–10:34, Num 10:35-36, Num 10:37 – ch. 36, and finally Deu.
  3. The sages say this is about resurrection
  4. Jonah Gets swallowed by a big Nun and after three days is ‘resurrected’ from the fish.
  5. The Aramaic letter for Nun is a fish Aramaic Nun Christian fish tiny
  6. Monte makes a point about how the Sadducees came to test him asking for a sign.  So Y’shua says harshly to them that he will give them a sign that will disproves the Sadducees belief in resurrection.

    1. Mat 16:1-4 The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven. (2) He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. (3) And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? (4) A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

Psalms 107

I have Psa 107:23-28, 40 in my notes, but couldn’t remember the connection to the Inverted Nun.

Psa 107:23-28, 40 They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; (24) These see the works of YHVH, and his wonders in the deep. (25) For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof. (26) They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble. (27) They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits end. (28) Then they cry unto YHVH in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. … (40) He poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no way.

Matthew 13 the parable chapter

I also have in my notes where Monte talks about Matthew 13 the parable chapter, and specifically verse 51 “have you understood all these things”, 52 therefore..

Mat 13:51-52 Restored Name KJV (51) Yahushua saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, master. (52) Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.

I don’t fully recall the whole point Monte was making, but knowing the treasures of the Kingdom are obviously very important.  Chapter 13 is the parable chapter and to fully understand the parables you need to understand what the scribes understand which is the ‘Jots and Tittles’.  I have heard Monte say a few times that if you can get a scribe to believe in that Y’shua is HaMashiach, then he will show you these most powerful and deeper meanings in the scripture.

Other Noteworthy Thoughts

  1. Day one (March 14) – The Messianic Movement and its role in the Second Coming.  Very interesting talk, but I didn’t take much for notes .  I would like to buy the recordings from Berean Mishpochah and review day one.  If anyone has any thoughts on this topic, please add to the comments.
  2. He is looking for the Joshua’s and the Caleb’s of this generation
    1. The attitude of Caleb and Joshua was to make it into the Kingdom, because they had a strong faith in YHVH. This fits well with my goal of not just making it into the Kingdom but to be called great in the kingdom Mat 5:19 (I think this will be a future blog).  So who were Caleb and Joshua? They were the only ones in the Exodus who made it into the promised land.  The promised land is equal to the Millennial Kingdom and the Exodus is the Pattern of the Greater Exodus.  I submit that if you are not use to operating in the law form of Torah, it is going to be harder for you to be on that journey.
  3. In the Phoenix area, Listen on the Radio at 1280 AM between 4:00 to 4:30 pm “Studying Prophets” with Pastor Will of Berean Mishpochah
  4. Devar I thought always means word(s) (KJC 808 times), but in the KJC it is translated “thing(s)” 240 times and “matter(s)” 63 times (FYI there are other translation not mentioned).  Monte Judah talked about the next speaker for Berean Mishpochah Brad Scott of Wild Branch Ministries.  Brad is heavily into Hebrew  and has a teaching “words mean things” (pun intended).  Click here to get a schedule of upcoming speakers that will be hosted by Berean Mishpochah.
  5. I showed up early on the 14th and he was having a discussion with someone about the book of Hebrews.  Monte has some strong criticism’s about the book, but the thing that got my attention and I hadn’t heard him talk about before was that the author of Hebrews is saying that Y’shua fulfilled the fall feast of Sukkot.  The bolsters Monte’s criticism because it obviously this is a problem because this isn’t supposed to happen until the second coming.
  6. Zechariah 10?

Torah Reading Milestone for Tzur Yisrael of Arizona

Posted in Parsha, Religion, Torah Lawform, TYoAZ by johnmarsing on March 12, 2007

To whom it may concern, consider this a public notice in the spirit of an affidavit by John Marsing (the owner of this blog) that this blog entry (initially posted March 12th 2007) is, to the best of my ability, a true accurate and correct testimony.

On Shabbath March 10th 2007, a great milestone for Tzur Yisrael (TYoAZ) was achieved which was the finishing our three year parsha reading.  I thought about writing this blog as a memorial and possibly for future ‘exhibitable’ evidence to the effect that those members of TYoAZ (myself included) have done in part the terms and conditions required of us pursuant to the Mt. Sinai Covenant which is found in Torah.  Note, that all of the attendees listed below and those not mentioned but claim to be part of TYoAZ have started their Shabbath keeping journey (Halachah if you will) at different times.

Exo 31:13 Speak thou also unto the Bnei Yisroel, saying, Verily My Shabbatot ye shall be shomer (guard) over; for it is an ot (sign) between Me and you throughout your dorot (generation); that ye may have da’at (knowledge) that I am YHVH Who doth set thee apart as kodesh.

From a legal point why is this important?  Well one way of looking at it is that its about generating prima facie evidence i.e. the good kind  (see the verse above).  In an ideal world where Torah as a law form is the norm, this wouldn’t be as necessary.  The presumption in the physical secular World is that we the people operate contrary to Torah  (probably more accurately what I call the ‘color’ of Torah).  Therefore you want to create as much evidence as possible to prove your covenant with YHVH is in good standing and stop generating evidence to the contrary.

For the record for John Marsing.

My involvement with keeping Shabbath which has been very consistent goes back to circa 1997.  The place where this first occurred for me was with Tzur Yisrael which met at Stan and Carol Fretwell’s house which was located somewhere in the North West valley of metro Phoenix.  From the Fretwell’s there have been numerous places we have congregated and now, as of the date of this blog, TYoAZ meets at the house of Gale Webb located on the land known as Tempe Arizona.

For me the most important thing involved the studying of the scriptures which many have said is the highest form of worship.  TYoAZ started on the three year study cycle on the first Shabbath in the month of Aviv 5765 (March 27th 2004).

Note: Evidence is all about places, names, dates … i.e facts.

Attendance

On March 10th 2007 the people in attendance were (sorry if I misspelled) …

  1. Dianne Calkins
  2. Ken Newman
  3. John Mackinnon
  4. Mark Lutz
  5. Will Meyer
  6. Mike Thompson
  7. Kye Thompson
  8. Mike Kelley (via the phone from his house)
  9. Gale Webb (via phone from Florence Arizona)
  10. Richard Ottens
  11. and myself, John Marsing

Highlights

  1. Mark passed around his “Essential Oils” which the group sampled.   I don’t know how this effected others if at all, but for me it may have caused me to be funnier than usual.
  2. Discussed how to compile the next triennial parsha.

The readings were…

Psalms

We had exhausted our Psalms reading list, so we re-read Psalms 91 after we heard it spoken in Hebrew by listening from Uri Harel’s “Psalm Favorite CD”.  I believe we had also read this earlier when we were eating.

Deuteronomy Chapter 34

We read the last chapter of Devarim, which is of course the last book of the Torah.  The chapter talks about the transfer of authority via laying of hands from Moshe to Yehoshua, and also the death and burial of Moshe .  One of the points that I brought up was from verse 10

And since then no prophet has arisen in Yisrael like Mosheh, whom YHVH  knew face to face”.

This was interesting to me because I would assume that some in Rabbinical Judaism would use this as an argument against accepting Y’shua implying that no one can be as great and as exalted as Moshe. Of course Y’shua isn’t just a mere prophet, he is (I believe) HaMashiach and to a very large extant the intent of the prophecies Mat 5:17.

Matthew 4:1–11 (No Haftorah)

This is where Y’shua is in the desert 40 days (symbolizing the 40 years of Israel in the desert I would suppose) and is tempted by HaSatan.  What I found noteworthy was of the three temptations Mat 4:4, 7 and 10, Y’shua responds by quoting from Torah, see Deu 8:3, Deu 6:16 and  Deu 6:13 respectively

Acts 26–28 plus the un-canonized chapter 29

There is a lot of legal action going on in these chapters involving Shaul and his accusers which I of course find fascinating.  The un-canonized chapter 29 was heavily laden with two house themes.  I read this from the “Restoration Scriptures True Name Edition” bible.

Personal Scripture Commentary (PSC) Thoughts #1

Posted in Parsha, Torah Lawform by johnmarsing on January 28, 2007

Synch to Paper

PSC defined: is a bible database using .net.  A database that collects commentary knowledge that an individual comes across and has been ‘ported’ to their own understanding.  The individual has gathered this knowledge ==> understandng using database and tagging tecnology with rich dynamic reporting technology.

The intent of PSC is to systematically go through the weekly Shabbat readings and capture the knowledge from the Torah parsha of the week (e.g. here, here and here).  One of the reporting features of PSC could be to make the reports into a ‘synch to paper’ format.  For example, on the day you do the reading (usually Shabbat) then you could to do a ‘synch to paper’ (see Pocket Mod Instructions) of next weeks Shabbat reading and hand them out for other people.  Then during the week, they can refer to them and scribble notes and generally be prepared for discussion when it’s time to read that parsha.
