My view on blog’s, and a comparison to email and websites.
I ultimately want people to go to my website (www.TorahLawform.com) and read my Word doc/PDF articles because I feel that is the best way to communicate my message and I feel it is also is in the best format(s). The general intent of this blog is to first and foremost point them to the website and to make that website more discoverable.
A description of my problem challenge
I have a fairly large group of people for whom I email at least once a week. The email is an announcement of the weekly parasha which I initiate with an Outlook template and this process works pretty good. The size of the email is small because they don’t have attachments but rather have links to the content on my website which I would have previous uploaded. This is good for a couple of reasons first I’m not cluttering up my users email with large files, second my users can get at the content via the email or by going directly to a page on my website that lists the desired content. This has another advantage because if the content changes I can choose to update my website without resending an additional batch of emails.
Push and Pull Model
websites uses a pull model where email uses a push model to deliver content and there are advantages and disadvantages to both. With the pull model you don’t have to manage who your recipients are as you are relying on them to know to go get it and the disadvantage is you are relying on them to know to go get it. With email there is more management involved but you are in control when your recipients (users) get your content. As I described my solution I resolved this issue with a hybrid of the push/pull model. By simply acknowledging that new content exists via an email (a push) I’m forcing my users to go to my website via a link in the email (a pull). I therefore get a nice solution to my problem by exploiting both models.
The problem with this solution is that websites aren’t the best for exploiting the pull model because they don’t do syndication (at least not well). With a blog you can set up syndication (e.g. RSS) and the user can add your syndication to their list. They would then, with the use of some sort of RSS reader (I use My Yahoo) they can periodically at their leisure scan the blogs to see if any new content has been created.
Blogs are a solution to the email portal problem. What I mean by this is that if there are some emails that you want to be public and be able for others to search for them on the web, than a blog is useful for that. I don’t want my blog to be a substitute or duplication for my website but rather an announcement of something that I may have put on my website like a new article for example. Therefore I intend to use my blog entries to essentially be duplication to my weekly parasha emails … small on size but rich in content via links to the website.
Part of my determination for how I use my blog is to evaluate the type of audience I’m communicating with. Most blog users are geeks (myself included) who are savvy in the way to make blogs and also consume them. For them they feel more comfortable communicating via the blog where as non geek types are more comfortable with just email. Generally speaking my audience is not very techno savvy so I will continue to communicate my message, like the weekly Torah parasha, to them via email but I will also be duplicating my message at the same time on my blog.
My goal is to find a way to more easily create content for both the email and the duplicate blogs.

We need to know who are “enemy” is. It’s not Jews, its leftist. There are many Jews are on the left, but can be pulled back from this insanity.
It would be interesting to ask a parallel question about Christians. Something like “Why are Christians so influenced by the left?” Answer: because they contract with them or at least their creations namely socialist government agencies and Christians end up playing by their rules.

This leads to a DP rule…those with no identity fear those that have one.
JKM: DP’s rule is fascinating and applies to Christianity. One way of looking at Two House is that both houses have an identity problem. The Jews (The House of Judah) can’t identify the Messiah, and Christians (The House of Ephraim/Israel) can’t identify that they are part of Israel. What DP said is also ironic, because when American Christians are stirred to seek out the Hebraic roots of their faith, they yearn to be Jewish. It’s like they are walking past each other and taking up the other side’s position.

a) Jews revere education which ironically is a big problem.

Jews are disproportionately the most well educated ethnic group. The problem is because the more highly educated you are in the West, the more left you tend to be. This is a rule that applies to Jews, Buddhist…anybody. This is because the purpose of modern western education is not to produce educated people, it is to produce left thinking people. DP is talking about the Humanities not the Natural Sciences. e.g. the ousting of the President of Harvard University Lawrence Summers. Harvard’s motto is Veritas which translates to truth. Because he suggested that men’s and woman’s brains may think differently, he was removed. Truth is not the aim at universities controlled by the left, rather it’s doctrine i.e. having the right “correct” doctrine.

This is not good, because Godless education doesn’t produce what Judaism was rather is produces largely fools and people deeply morally confused. When Judaism wants you to study, they want you to study the Torah, which is the framework of values to study other things.

Since 9/11, DP’s speech to Jewish groups has been received but still is hard for a lot of Jews to hear this we Jews should enter cognitive dissonance. That which we most revered (the university), turns out to be our enemy, and that which we most mistrusted (American religious Christians) turns out to be a friend. Stanely Fish of the New York Times, a liberal, says that the default position at the university is anti-Israel. All of this is enough to give Jews heartburn.
Trying to draw a Jew away from the left, is like trying to draw a Christian away from their faith in Christ. DP acknowledges that his belief in the 10 commandments, the 13 principles of Maimonides is faith. In contrast the Left is all faith, and irrational faith, but they believe their non-sense is scientific, and that’s the difference. DP doesn’t have scientific proof that Moshe got the ten commandments at Mt. Sinai, that’s leap of faith.
JKM: I agree with DP that I wouldn’t call it scientific, but I don’t agree calling it a leap of faith, rather it is faith based on principles of law like rules of evidence (see the FRE ancestral doctrine) {link}. Is not the testimony of scripture (i.e. if you will Old and New Testament, pun intended) what one could reasonably be faithful of? I don’t need a leap of faith to believe this (I think if you study this leap + faith is oxymoronic). By the way where is the ‘scientific bible’ that could be used as testimony in a court of law that would make it into a court of law under the same scrutiny of the rules of evidence? Most on the Left would try to challenge the veracity of the scriptures and would object to it being entered in as evidence in a court room setting. I, of course would be in opposition to the Left’s attempt at squashing this evidence, and I believe I would succeed. Upon success, I will have as testimony places, persons, acts, dates, times recorded events etc which are all facts corroborated with two or more witnesses. With this knowledge (which comes from thinking in lawful terms) we shouldn’t be afraid of those who argue against us with only a scientific mindset when truth is being sought.
JKM Sidbar: DP mentions the thirteen principles of Maimonides which I, a Two House, Tora Observant, Y’shua Believing person would lik to comment on and contrast with my beliefs. Q1: 250 Million Christians in the US and only 6 Million Jews. Certainly there are more Christians on the Left and Christians have more power, influence and money (than Jews), so why focus on this tiny Jewish left?

A wonderful question, by and large Christians who. There is a Christian left e.g. The Sojourners, The Presbyterian Church USA, The national Council of Churches. The reason is Jews have disproportional influence which is not an anti or pro Semitic comment its fact. E.g. Let’s suppose that every Jew in America became a Torah serious Jews and thought in terms of the Godly and not Godlessness, took the values that the Jews and Christians shared from the Old Testament seriously in their life. This would be all the Jews involved in news media, editing newspapers, producing movies. Imagine Steven Spielberg tomorrow actually thought the we can’t lose this Judeo Christian society we are ruined, and I need to make a movie about that. What is every Jewish professor with a Jewish surname abandoned the left, because the realized (Proverb 9:10) was right that wisdom begins with fear of God and that the university has not God to it has no wisdom. That is an American Christian speaking. DP sees bumper stickers “My savior was a Jewish Carpenter” and you would never see that in Europe. In fact the Nazis said the Jesus was an Arian and the de-jewdaize Jesus and was one of the reasons that they were anti-Christian, or at least anti-Christianity. Q3: I don’t know if the Jewish religious institutions and the congregations in general have the same kind of separation. In main stream Christianity the leadership and the parishioners have very different views. Does this occur in the Synagogues?
DP Response:
Good question, by and large they are a little to the left, all institutions are a little to the left of the congregants e.g. seminaries, but not as dramatically as you would have the Anglicans and Presbyterians and all of the liberal churches. That is why it is very important for the parishioners to learn what in fact their churches are doing in their name. DP Response:
He says he is true to his liberal up-bringing. He has two quotes, the JFK Inaugural address {link}, A good test for college students would be to give them a copy of this and then ask them was this president a Republican or Democrat? To take risks for Liberty and fight for liberty in the world to spread it was a Democratic Idea when DP grew up. DP is faithful to ideas not parties, and now these ideas are Republican and it is a simple as that.
DP’s epiphany moment 1) when the left became anti-anti-communist. DP new that communism was evil as did Ronald Reagan but Ronald Reagan taught DP that big government was a problem. and 2) being at Columbia University at the school of international affairs, and he wrote a column “How I found God at Columbia University” {link}. That was the day DP asked how do the professors believe such idiocy about men and women and America being an imperialist country. DP would say at his Yeshiva {link} during the opening prayers every morning thanking God of returning our soles after sleeping all night. “Barasheet Chochmah Yirat Adoni” (01:11:40) -> “Wisdom begins with fear of God”, DP realized that there is not fear of God at the university, therefore there is no wisdom.

Final thought about a religious note regarding the US and Israel. DP is apolitical visa vie Israel regardless of who the PM is in Israel, DP supports them. DP doesn’t appreciate American Jews how to govern their (Israel’s) country, which is very atypical view in Jewish life both left and right). Having said this, DP believes that if the Unites States abandons Israel, you could date the decline of the United States. DP bases this on a religious and secularist arguments.
1) (secular) what make America special is because it doesn’t care what France, UN, NY Times editorial thinks, it does what is right which is the John Bolton America that he is talking about. If switched and cared what France thought, we would be doomed because France is doomed.
2) (religious) Ask almost any American Christians why they support Israel, the will give many answers but foremost is this quirky notion that when God speaks in the bible, they take it seriously. As DP says to Jewish audiences, If only Jews took the Torah as seriously as Christians did, we would really be doing something well. God say’s in the Torah in Genesis, “I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you” Gen 12:3. DP says there is not dought in my mind about this, just look at the most benighted place on earth today it is the Arab world and it is because their foremost identity is to cursing the Jews, and the day they turn around on the Jews, there will be a total turnaround of Arab life, and the most blessed country in the world is the United States of America, which is not coincidental that it blesses the Jews.

Hanging Out with Bill Cloud
The secret and hidden things of YHVH
These are my notes on Bill Cloud’s (see www.billcloud.org) talk that was hosted by Berean Mishpochah on June 16th. He also spoke the night before, but I didn’t find out about it until it was to late (Doh!). The name of Bill’s ministry is called Shoreshim. I have heard Bill talk numerous times before a Monte Judah’s Feast of Tabernacles and I all ready knew he was as excellent speaker with an important message. Bill has a great ability to do a thorugh job in his presentation and to tie things together. 
In this blog, I will be copying verses from e-sword using the King James Version (KJV), the Restored name King James Version (RKJV), the Orthodox Jewish Bible (OJB), Strong’s numbers (in Green) and the Strong’s Concordance. For the Hebrew, I will be using a graphics from an interlinear version also from e-sword. Also I wrote this blog using Word 2007 so that I can compare it to blogjet.
Bill started with Proverbs 25:2-3 and the Hebrew word satar or sâthar

Pro 25:1-3 KJV These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out. (2)
It is the glory of God to conceal 5641 a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter. (3) The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.
Pro 25:1-3 OJB These are also mishlei Sh’lomo, which the anashim of Chizkiyah Melech Yehudah copied out: (2) It is the Kavod Elohim to conceal 5641 a thing, but the kavod melachim is to search out a matter. (3) The Shomayim for height, and Eretz for depth, so the lev melachim is unsearchable.

Here is sod which a similar word to satar but is translated in the KJV as secret. Completely different word, but the same point is being made.
Amo 3:7 RKJV Surely the Sovereign YHVH will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret 5475 unto his servants the prophets.
Here is an example in the Gospels.
Mat 13:34-35 RKJV All these things spake Yahushua unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: (35) That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.
Bill talked about how much even the disciples didn’t know about these secret things. The where very discouraged after the crucifiction (see e.g. Luke 24) as they couldn’t de-code what was told to them by the Messiah in the form of parables and by all of the scripture that was known at that time. They just weren’t wise enough. We of course can look back in hind sight and can see the whole picture, but the question of our day is are we any wiser?

Organization: My thoughts on Directories and Tags

It needs to have an ongoing list of tags that I can manage.
I need a mapped out strategy or best practice of when to make a (sub)folder. I want to have links in my UR database that point to folders on my hard drive. e.g. I don’t want to save installation files in UR, but I do want to save them in my C:\Install folder. This way I don’t clutter up UR, but still have link to where I put a related exe. This also might apply to a Access database or SQL Server database, where I don’t want the .mdb file save in UR (probably can’t), but want a reference to it. I wonder if this could also apply to backups (C:\Backups). Speaking of backups, I would like the PIM manager create notices of backups.
If UR can be the manager of my hard drive and documents, can it refactor? I.e. if I need to CRUD to (sub)folder, does UR keep track of all my meta data (like tags and folder links).
